About The Poster: Created in 1933, the French National Lottery became widely popular after the media coverage of barber Paul Bonhoure’s win of five million francs in the first draw. In a very enlightening article “Loterie Nationale: Mythes et symboles” written in 1969, the influential French journalist and author of many books on consumerism, education, and advertising propose an in-depth analysis of posters commissioned by the French lottery.

This poster from 1949 has recently been linen-backed and is in very good condition (with some obvious tears that are visible in the photos but which will be less apparent when the poster is framed). Rare and ready to frame.

The Mid Century Modernist exhibition poster print is published by The Galerie Beyeler Basel, printed in Switzerland in 1973 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image by Albers from his iconic series ” Homage to the Square “.

This is a rare opportunity for true Josef Albers and Modernism fans and collectors both as this coveted image silkscreen print exhibition poster is long out of print and very scarce to find.

Josef Albers ( 1888 – 1976 ) was a German born artist and educator whose work, both in Europe and The United States formed the basis of Modern Art education programs of The 20th Century. Albers was a student at The Bauhaus in 1920, later being invited by the founder Walter Gropius to become an educator at the school. There his students included established artists Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee.

In the 1930’s Albers emigrated to The United States where he would become the head of the new art school Black Mountain College, and later in the 1950’s he became head of the department of design at Yale University. His students in American included Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Richard Anuzkiewicz, and Eva Hesse among others.

Accomplished as a designer, photographer, typographer, printmaker, and poet, Albers is best remembered for his work as an Abstract painter and invaluable contributor as an art theorist of color theory. He is considered to be one of the most influential visual artists of The Twentieth Century. Artworks by Albers are included in the collections of many of the world’s most prestigious museums.

When Ernst Beyeler renamed the art and book shop that he had been running for several years to the ” Galerie Beyeler ” in 1952, he laid the foundation for a unique career as an art dealer and collector. The most important modern artists were represented at Beyeler. The exhibitions were not only well attended by local visitors, but also by international travelers. The high level of curation and expertise that was cultivated in the Galerie Beyeler art works, was also exemplified in their fine art exhibition posters of that time, such as this Josef Albers exhibition poster print.

This vintage item remains is very good condition. Would look great framed. Could be placed in a clear frame hanging in an open area for viewing on both sides.

When arriving in class in the morning, the pupil discovered the lesson of the day to be taught, thanks to the educational poster/board hung on the wall by the teacher. Each was numbered and was part of a series developing a theme. For example geography, history or science with the famous object lessons! In general, the poster consisted of drawings that were at once schematic, figurative and very colorful which captured the attention of schoolchildren … Front / Back: Side 1: Le Printemps/Le Village

Joan Miró, Poem I, 20th Century, Poster https://www.mailnec.shop/product/joan-miro-poem-i-20th-century-poster/ https://www.mailnec.shop/product/joan-miro-poem-i-20th-century-poster/#respond Thu, 26 Sep 2024 10:50:48 +0000 https://mailnec.shop/product/joan-miro-poem-i-20th-century-poster/

work in original vintage condition. A slight tear at the top of the poster. Print for the joan miro foundation, barcelona 1995 – lem s.r.l. Milan. Unframed work.

a picture is made of brushstrokes, just as a poem is made of words. – joan miró

miró’s works are interpreted as belonging to surrealism, as an expression of a return to childhood and as sandboxes for the subconscious. The miró style consists of vivid colors combined with simplified forms, reminiscent of drawings of a small child. Initially, miró created in various fashionable styles, for example, fauvist and cubist. In 1920 he traveled to paris several times, and a year later he settled there permanently. He met pablo picasso, vasily kandinsky and many other outstanding artists. In 1924 he joined the surrealists of andré breton’s circle, but – despite the fact that he worked under their influence – he remained on the outskirts of this trend, maintaining the position of an outsider.

influenced by surrealist poets and writers, he began to develop his own style: a map of weightless colored signs and poetic forms that evoke both the seemingly naive freshness of invention and the exuberant and baroque catalan spirit. The elements of the style adopted by him were organic forms and a flattened drawing with sharp lines. With the help of a symbol, a trace of a finger, a hand, water on paper, a seemingly delicate line on fabric – the master transformed the world around him with clear simplicity. He created a reality full of poetic and dreamlike transformations.

his lifestyle had a great need for cleanliness, order and education. The studio was tidy, and the works were arranged according to a system known only to the artist. He grew up in barcelona, spent part of his life in paris, and although in 1956 the artist decided to move to palma de mallorca and villa son abrines, his life continued to follow the barcelona-parisian rhythm. The choice of palma de mallorca was also not accidental, because his wife – pilar juncosa – was born on this mediterranean island.

often the starting point of mirò’s paintings is the main color spot from which the world emerges with the strict organization of its irrational form. However spontaneous this creation may seem, only the first moment was created freely, the rest is meticulously controlled according to miró’s requirements for balance in the composition. Freeing his paintings from illusions and anecdotes, miró has reached the limit of simplification. He is the author of the grattage painting technique, which consists in scraping the paint off the canvas. This piece has an attribution mark,
